Many of our minds have become an uncomfortable place for us to be in. Critical thoughts can be disabling and shame and anxiety alienating. We are being pushed further and further apart from each other by the media focusing on ways in which we are different from each other rather than our shared values and ideals.
Our thoughts, uninvited as they are, can seem so convincing when they say that we do not belong, are not good enough, have something wrong with us…
We have all been through so much. Collectively and individually. To make sense of the world now and to have a sense that we belong and have a valuable part to play can seem alien to many of us.
The unrealistic expectations that we get bombarded with from advertising, social media, our education, our parents, and even our peers about how we should live our lives, who and what we should be has taken its toll. We have been fed so much information that is unhelpful for us and it has become difficult to know what to believe or even where to focus our energies and attention.
How I Work
I work in a way that I would like a therapist to work with me; with kindness, compassion, honesty, insights and with tools of transformation which have been practised, studied and refined over years.
I want for all of us humans to have lives infused with meaning, value and purpose. To communicate with ourselves and others in an open, kind and clear way. To have the resilience to face our lives and our own thoughts with discernment and honesty – free of the burden of shame and anxiety.Contact Me
Therapeutically I work with many different methodologies and philosophies (detailed below). Predominantly though, I hold an encouraging, supportive, non-judgemental and caring space and work with you to build a relationship within which we can explore those parts of yourself that may currently seem unlovable, or even as yet may be unseen. I help you to incorporate these parts of yourself to help you to live in a more full, complete and integrated way.
Alongside this work of insight and acceptance, it is important to determine your values. What you would like to stand for in the world. This will allow you to focus on the many moments of each day in which it is possible, and enjoyable to live according to your true nature, and also to create a life that is infused with meaning and purpose, no matter what your external and internal circumstances.
Methodologies and philosophies: Psychosynthesis – transpersonal psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT, Brain Working Recursive Therapy – BWRT, Focusing, Adlerian philosophy, yoga and meditation.
